Hello friends. Did you think I had forgotten about you? I have not. This blog looms in the back of mind at all times, nagging me to update it and give it some TLC.
Perhaps you’ve noticed some changes around here. I’ve taken all my freelance writing stuff of this site and moved it to my fancy new website, Glossy Type. Glossy Type is a resource for small business owners and entrepreneurs who want to DIY their own content marketing. I have a content marketing blog there with a bunch of resources for small business owners and entrepreneurs. If you’re trying to hire a beauty copywriter, that’s also where my portfolio lives.
I still have this domain name and this blog. I’ve been writing this blog since 2009, and it has always lacked direction. So, I’m just going to lean into that. This is a blog about nothing.
Remember the good old days of blogging when blogs were nothing more than personal diaries with some crappy digital camera photos? That’s what this blog is going to be now.
I don’t need to make money off of this blog, and I literally don’t care if anyone reads it. I just like writing and sometimes I like taking pictures. It’s nice to have a visual diary of my life beyond my scribblings in my composition notebooks. I also like writing about obscure indie bands and giving unwarranted advice about wellness. So, I’m just going to do all these things, completely at random, whenever I feel like it.
I’m throwing out the content calendar, the search engine optimization, and all the stuff that makes blogging into work. I already write blogs as a job. I just want this to be fun and relaxing (for all of us).
Also, I am going to Europe this fall. So, there will be some actual real adventures to depict. If this blog seems to be lacking adventures these days, it’s because I’ve literally been in my parents’ basement for the past 9 months working on growing my freelance writing business.
If you want to see more of my day to day life (which mostly involves my golden retriever, Winnie), then follow me on Instagram and watch my stories. I don’t update my feed, but I do update my story almost daily. It’s the only social media I use (besides LinkedIn, which is a whole other thing).
And now, here’s some pictures of April & May. I will perhaps post June in a later post (probably in 3 months).
It was so sad going through these pictures from April and seeing SNOW. NO THANK YOU.
Here’s the Cinderella Bridge I posted about previously.
My favorite picture of Winnie ever. It’s the background on my phone.
Here’s me and Alicia at Skittle’s bar crawl. If we look exhausted, it’s because we had been drinking for like 8 hours at this point. I hate that you can see my belly in this picture. You probably wouldn’t have seen if I hadn’t brought it up, but I can’t get over it.
Me and Skittle, just before we completely destroyed our bods with beer.
I saw a dog wearing sunglasses. Always noteworthy.
There’s a very nice daffodil meadow near my home. My grandparents actually got engaged there, 5000 years ago. I thought it would be nice to take a picture of my dog there. Unfortunately, she thought the many goose droppings in the meadow were a buffet for her, and we didn’t get a good picture. Also, I’m pretty sure she puked later.
I also went to California for two weeks. It really gave me a lot of feels (which I hate). My feelings towards LA are complicated. When I’m away, I remember all the reasons why I love it. And when I’m there, I remember all the reasons I hate it.
But I do love my friends, and many of them live in LA. Here’s me looking like a hobbit with Dave’s allegedly normal-sized guitar.
Obligatory beach pic.
My one good pic of 2018 so far. Man, I miss my long hair. I had to cut off at least 3 inches from my hair because of a failed Color Oops experiment, but that’s another story for another time.
I spent a week in Huntington Beach watching these two gems, Woody and Lou. LOOK AT THEIR LITTLE FACES.
It was recently my grandparents’ wedding anniversary someone in my family dug up this pic of them back in the day. Don’t they look so happy and sweet?
So, there used to be an amusement park in Youngstown called Idora Park. It burned down in the 80’s, but everyone in the community still loves to talk about it. My dad actually worked there for a few summers in high school. Anyways, a local man named Jim has put together an Idora Park museum at his home. My dad and I went to check it out. It was pretty cool because it helped me to visualize my dad’s stories of the park. Plus, there were fun house mirrors.
LOOK AT MY BEAUTIFUL CHILD AND HER FANCY PAW. We have a wall of rhododendrons in our backyard. They bloomed in late May and they were GORGEOUS.
What’s more sweet and pure than a puppy sniffing a flower?
An action shot of Winnie, with zoomies, in my bed.
BUT BACK TO THE FLOWER WALL. Chair for scale.
ANYWAYS, what have you guys been up to lately? I swear I’ll answer your comments this time.
