I hope you’re into pictures of golden retriever puppies, because that’s all this post is!
So, this is Winnie. She was born on August 12, 2017. She likes eating leaves, gnawing on trash, digging holes in the backyard, chasing squirrels, and snuggling. She is my greatest treasure. I mean, LOOK AT HER.
I tried to put these photos in chronological order so you can see how she’s grown. It’s amazing! I want to cry when I look at these pictures of her when she was so tiny and precious. Why can’t they stay little forever?
Even when we first got her, she had these crazy, long, thick whiskers.
Please note the jealous Gibby lurking in the background.
Here’s a size comparison so you can see how little she once was. Now she’s as big as he is!
Unfortunately, we did have an accident when she was a baby. Gibby accidentally chomped on her face and gave her a black eye. It was so sad! We were all traumatized.
After that incident, it was all downhill with the discipline. Originally we weren’t going to let her on the furniture. Then after her black eye, we were all like, “Oh, Winnie, please sit up on the couch with me! You can snuggle if you want!” We’ve created a monster. Now every time I come out of my basement office, she’s just lying on the couch like the queen of Sheba.
Also, if you were wondering, she made a full recovery. Well, not full. When she is tired, her one eye gets a little lazy and goes the wrong way. It’s adorable.
She always folds under her right paw when she lays down and it’s THE cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Why does she do it????
Wow, I really miss being able to hold her like a baby. However, judging by her face in this picture, I doubt that she misses it as much as I do.
She was a very serious puppy, so we were thrilled when she started smiling like a real golden retriever.
We took this picture for Thanksgiving (or Thanksgibbing, as we like to call it). Mom made Gibby a hat and collar, and we repurposed me and Morgan’s baptismal bonnet for Winnie.
And can I get a hell yeah for Gibby? He’s such a sweet old man.
I sometimes wonder how Gibby and Winnie view their relationship with one another. In dog years, he’s 77 and she’s about 4. Is he her brother? Her dad? Her grandfather? Her husband? I’ve determined that he’s more like her elderly neighbor that she frequently annoys, a la Dennis the Menace and Mr. Wilson.
Do you think she’s cute? Do you have a dog? Let me now in the comments!
