It’s a little known fact, but my mom is actually the biggest Cleveland Indians fan. I don’t care about your Uncle Steve or your Grandpa John, my mom beats them all. So for her 60th birthday I really, really wanted to treat her to a plane ticket to see the Indians at spring training in Arizona. The fact that the weather was beautiful and sunny was of course a bonus.
My mom wants me to marry Cleveland Indian Jason Kipnis, and I had the opportunity to talk to him while I was there and I BLEW IT. I chickened out in the moment. I am ashamed. But at least I got to eat a hot dog in the sun.
While we were there, we visited Desert Botanical Garden. No offense, but it really put the Cleveland Botanical Garden to shame. It was ENORMOUS. Just look at all these cacti:
Plus, we got to unpack butterflies. Apparently the Desert Botanical Garden has butterflies shipped up from South America in tiny envelopes, and then they allow visitors to release them in the butterfly house. It was so cool. How did they get them in the envelopes, though?
UGH JUST LOOK AT THAT. I love the desert.
I also had the opportunity to visit with my favorite little white doggies, Woody and Lou!
Me and my mommy, living our best lives.
Also, side note, my aunt’s friend bought her this mug and I love it.
I’ve been to Phoenix quite a few times, actually, but I guess I only wrote about it here.
If you like pics of the desert, you should definitely check out my Joshua Tree series.
