As you may know, I took so many pictures in Joshua Tree that I’ve had to split them into multiple posts. Here’s the post for our first day in Joshua Tree.
On our second day, we got our butts in gear and actually went into the park. The landscape in Joshua Tree is just startlingly good-looking. Everywhere you turn, you’re just like “DAMN.” I can see why people dig it so much. Also, apparently, there’s some crystal force fields that imbue the area with magic powers. I don’t know about THAT but it certainly was beautiful.
When we first parked, all of my friends hopped out of the car and started climbing these giants rocks. I walked around on the ground and waited for them because I’m just not coordinated enough to handle things like that. Plus, I’m afraid of heights. So I was walking around on the ground with Shelby, and we saw someone on the rocks in the distance that we thought was Carolyn. Naturally, we waved and said “Hi! You’re so far away! How did you get up there?” And this lady was like “Look over there! It’s Dylan! Look at him!” We looked everywhere, but we didn’t see this Dylan person. I don’t know why she wanted us to look at him. I think we simultaneously had each other confused for members of our own hiking parties.
Later, we went to Barker Dam. Shelby asked me, “Is this where The Land Before Time was filmed?” No. It’s a cartoon. Oh my god.
My friends, in the distance, leaving me for dead.
The set of The Land Before Time.
I’m not sure why we picked the jankiest Joshua Tree for this photo…Honestly I don’t think there was a more unfortunately looking Joshua Tree in the entire park.
This looks like the cover of a 70’s rock album.
