After the tragic shooting in Orlando, one would think that the LA Pride Parade would have been a somber event. In fact, it was one hell of a party, celebrating the bravery of the LGBTQ community in the face of adversity. Angelenos from all walks of life were out in colorful costumes, waving the rainbow flag and celebrating LA Pride.

I attended the LA Pride Parade with Carolyn, Jason, Jason’s husband, Derek, and Derek’s family. We met for mimosas and breakfast at Derek’s cousin’s house in West Hollywood and watched Obama speak on the shooting in Orlando. It was very emotional. After hearing that a man was arrested on his way to LA Pride with weapons and bombs, I was almost too afraid to go. But everyone was SO BRAVE and SO INTO IT. You can’t let fear hold you back from having a good time! It feels weird to say that we had to party to fight terrorism, but we totally did.

The parade was amazing. I’ve never been to a Pride Parade, but I loved seeing how all these different organizations and individuals were showing support for the LGBTQ community. We hear so much about hate in the news, but it’s important to remember how much more love it out there. We saw the cast of It’s Always Sunny, Disney, Buzzfeed, Macy’s, Cheetos (?!), LA County Lifeguards, Buddhists, Lutherans, etc. It was wonderful.

Also, please note how many ADORABLE dogs were at LA Pride. Honestly, that could have been a whole other blog post.

Danny Devito almost ran me over in this golf cart. What an honor that would have been…

I can’t share anymore photos with you after that because they just fade into drunken ridiculousness. It was the best time ever though, believe that!

  13. Looks like it was such a fun event. I saw a bit of last year’s (or before?) event in Shahs of Sunset. Unfortunately there is no gay pride festival where I live. Some of the best nights out I’ve had were at gay clubs in London and Paris.
