So, right now I am pretty much helpless and immobile after I bruised my tailbone in a hiking accident last weekend. And by “hiking accident”, I mean that I slipped and fell on my butt like an idiot. BUT I DIDN’T CRY. Just want to make that clear. Anyways, dealing with the repercussions of that idiocy now, so I think my Memorial Day Weekend is going to be spent on the couch rather than cruising the streets of LA looking for fun & chasing honeybees.
But back to the story of this post! A few weeks ago, Shelby and I went to go check out a Daybreaker LA event in Marina Del Ray. Daybreaker is an organization that puts on early morning weekday dance parties. They’re all about breaking up the monotony of the work week. They usually start their events at 5:30 am with yoga, then have a huge dance party complete with a DJ and live performers. I was skeptical of whether I would even want to dance, sober, at 6 am, but the vibes are so great you don’t feel weird about it at all. They also have tons of vendors giving out free samples of healthy snacks and drinks, so if you go, definitely bring a backpack so you can load up.
This particular event was on a yacht in Marina Del Ray. I got there earlier than I was expecting to (turns out there’s no traffic at 5:45am!), so I walked around the Marina and took pictures. I’d love to come back here once I get a fancier lens, because I don’t think these pictures even do it justice.
Around 6am they let us onto the boat. Shelby and I scooped up some free samples and walked around the boat for a little bit.
This lady literally brought a baby. And you could tell this baby what just like “What the hell is going on?”
This guy was into it.
Even though we docked again at 8, it seemed like it was over as soon as it began. Then it was silent (except for the ringing in my ears) and I went to the office like it was just a regular day…
Tips For Going to Daybreaker LA:
- 1. Bring a backpack. There’s tons of samples and obviously you want to save as many as possible for later.
- 2. Book early. These events sell out rather quickly, and you don’t want to miss out!
- 3. Dress wild. The theme for this event was “blue” and to be honest, I don’t really have any blue clothes. I wish I would have planned ahead because a lot of people had some rockin’ looks.
And guess what? Daybreaker is all over the world, not just LA. Check out their website here to see if there’s an event near you! And by the way, this post is NOT sponsored. I just had a rad time and think everyone should try this at least once.
