On Saturday, I had big plans to run another race. I was all ready in my activewear and sneakers when I get a call from my friend Shelby. She was cutting an avocado for her breakfast, and he hand slipped and she cut her hand open. From the tone of her voice, it sounded pretty bad, so I hopped in my car to take her to Urgent Care.
I got to her place 15 minutes later, and by the time I got there, it had stopped bleeding. We’re no medical professionals, so we didn’t know whether or not she would need stitches. She snapped everyone she knew in the medical industry and I texted my pharmacist aunt, but we still weren’t sure what to do. I mean, who wants to go to Urgent Care on a beautiful Saturday and deal with that bullshit?
So, we decided to walk to the CVS down the street to ask the pharmacist there if she needed stitches.
The following pictures depict our long and winding road towards Urgent Care through Venice and Santa Monica.
“Ouch.” Get it?!
FYI, we were dressed to run a 5k so that’s why we look like we’re going to a theme park in these pictures. I think if we had known there was going to be so much picture-taking, we would have at least ditched the iridescent fanny pack.
One of my goals for 2016 is to pet more dogs. When I see a good one, I am going to ask to pet it instead of staring wistfully and wishing it would come up to me. I’m taking charge of my life this year!
This adorable creature’s name is Cargo and he’s up for adoption. I was about to go for it but then I remembered I can’t have dogs in my apartment 🙁
So we went to the CVS and the pharmacist was like, “Yes! You need stitches! You need to go to Urgent Care!” But at this point we were getting hungry and we wanted a few beers…so we went to Santa Monica for a pre-stitches lunch.
We went for lunch at The Independence in Santa Monica. My salad left something to be desired…so we ordered chocolate cake.
We walked around Santa Monica for a while, and then finally bit the bullet and took an Uber to the Urgent Care. The people at Urgent Care were just like what is wrong with these girls. Why did we wait 7 hours to go get stitches? What did we do all day? Honestly, it was just too nice of a day to go to the doctor.
Afterwards, we stopped over at this weird furniture/antique store across the street that’s perpetually closing.
The lone employee of the store caught us taking this photo in the back of the school bus. We thought we were going to be in trouble, but then he said, “Want to see the recording studio?”
…So we went in the recording studio.
Then we walked to Abbott Kinney to meet up with Carolyn and Ryan for dinner.
It was a good day, despite all the blood!
