First of all, I want to thank ODDZ magazine for featuring my photos of the LA Arts District on their website! For the rest of the photos in this series, please check out my feature on ODDZ Magazine’s website. I’m also going to have another feature in their June printed issue, so stay tuned for that!
A few weeks ago I went to the LA Arts District to check out the Vortex of Destiny. What’s the Vortex of Destiny, you ask? It’s basically a big tube with psychedelic paintings inside, and it rotates while you walk on a catwalk through it’s center. Adding to the general nausea were the 3D glasses they gave us at the entrance. It’s just like some crazy hippie Burning Man thing but it was pretty cool.
So the LA Arts District is a bunch of old warehouses now inhabited my artists and craftspeople. You can walk around, drink beers, and check out some local art. There’s a catwalk far above the area with a viewing deck and an incredible view of the LA skyline. I also feel weird at stuff like this though because I am not in a financial position to support local artists, so like why am I there?
TO TAKE PICTURES OF MY FRIENDS OBVIOUSLY!!!!
For the rest of the series, check out ODDZ Magazine! They have some really great stuff! I’ll report back when their new magazine is out.
Tips for Visiting the LA Arts District
- 1. Bring cash! The beer garden is cash only, and many of the food trucks are as well.
- 2. Take an Uber! Parking is tight in the area when they’re having at Art Walk.
- 3. Go to the top of the highest building! I’m not sure what it’s called, but it’s worth the hike. The view of Downtown LA’s skyline can’t be missed.
