Yoooooooooo. So I completed my first-ever 5k at the Santa Monica-Venice Christmas Run. I kept pace with my aunt and uncle and we ran/walked the whole thing, but with an average 12:30 minute mile, I don’t feel bad about it. I’m actually rather inspired to start running, like, legitimately.

The most important thing is that there was a costume contest and WE WON FIRST PLACE. We dressed as a 1980’s hair metal band called Slay Ride and basically blew the competition out of the water. We just won month-long gym memberships to a place in Santa Monica, but it’s the bragging rights that count. Costumes were by yours truly πŸ˜‰

We literally couldn’t stop laughing at ourselves when we first put our outfits on.

The race went through Santa Monica to the Venice Boardwalk, then looped around and ended near the famous Venice sign. At the end of the race, I got a high five from Santa Claus!

So legit.

We got really cute medals.

I felt like Jason looked the most realistic out of all of us. He should really consider doing a 180 with his look and get a tattoo sleeve. What do you think?

After an afternoon of napping, we reconvened and hit up Bruno’s in Santa Monica. Bruno’s is the like the most Youngstown, Ohio little mom-and-pop Italian place I have seen west of the Mississippi. I WAS IN LOVE. SO MUCH SPAGHETTI!!!!! They had the plastic gingham table cloths, the paper placemats with maps of Italy, parmesan cheese and red pepper on the table, too-tiny wine glasses…I felt like I was at home. I had this cannoli. It was fabulous.

We saw the sickest succulent wall in Santa Monica.

We wrapped up the night poolside at the Viceroy hotel. I felt like it was a little too fancy for me but IDK, I guess I’m fancier now that I used to be? LA will do that to a girl, I guess. I am, after all, a person who has run a 5k now. And an award-winning costume designer…

I call this “Fun with Succulents”.

What have you guys been up to lately?

  7. Slay Ride…what a good name! If I ever did anything mildly energetic in a team, it would have to be the punniest of team names (love a good pun, me).
