If you read this blog at all, I’m sure you recognize Alicia and Dane and their little dog Lulu. No? Well, they are two three of my best friends in the entire world. Alicia has appeared on this blog so many times, I’m pretty sure some people thought that I was her.
But anywayyyss, before I left for LA, Dane told me that he bought an engagement ring for Alicia, but he wasn’t sure when to propose. A few months went by and I hadn’t heard anything, so I sent a snap to Dane with my ring finger circled and a bunch of question marks. Of course, he showed it to Alicia and was like, “What do you think that means?”
Luckily, he didn’t ruin anything. He told me that he wanted to do something big to propose, and I suggested that he surprise her and fly them out to LA for a weekend and he could propose on the beach. Ohio people love beach proposals! He picked Halloween weekend since it was close to their anniversary and started making plans.
And she was so surprised! He had only told her that they were going some place warm and to take off work, then the day before he hinted that they were going to California. In the middle of the night I got a text from Alicia that just said, “Am I coming to see you?? In El Ay????”
It was SO AWESOME picking them up from the airport after not seeing them for 4 months. You know someone is your legit friend when you can pick up right where you left off, like you haven’t been living on the other side of the country for months.
In the afternoon, we went to Santa Monica because I said I had made reservations at a restaurant. We got there early, so I suggested we take a walk on the beach so I could take pictures of stuff. Not suspicious – Alicia and Dane are used to me taking pictures of them and whatever else we see on walks. But what Alicia didn’t know is that Dane and put an engagement ring in pouch under Lulu’s harness. So I told them to stand in front of the pier to take a picture and Dane kneeled down to fix Lulu’s harness, pulled out the ring, and…
OH MY GOD.
Isn’t the ring gorgeous? It’s in the shape of a flower.
Yeah, it was pretty much adorable. Like, I was shaking. I’m so happy that I could be a part of their special occasion! Afterwards, we had dinner with Carolyn and popped bottles all night long.
So obviously now I am a professional engagement and wedding photographer. HMU for prices. JK…but maybe I’m not??
