FRIENDS IN TOWN

FRIENDS IN TOWN

posted in: BLOG, LIFESTYLE | 8
Soooooo I just dropped $600 on a plane ticket to Ohio for the holidays. It’s a major bummer because now I pretty much can’t get anyone any presents, and buying gifts is my FAVORITE! I seriously have been working on my Christmas gift plans since like August. Oh well. This year, my presents will be my presence.

Luckily, living in a beautiful, warm place like LA pretty much guarantees your friends will just fly out and visit you instead. More often than not, Carolyn and I have friends visiting us from out of town. It’s great because it forces me to go out and explore my city as if I were a tourist instead of chilling at home. I love LA, but you know how it is. Once you start living somewhere, you end up settling into a routine no matter how magical your surroundings!

As I previously mentioned, Alicia & Dane visited on Halloween weekend and Dane proposed on the beach. Hashtag romantic, right? So OBVIOUSLY we went out and partied that night. Bottles of champagne, bottles of wine, bottles of beer, bottles of sake (why God why???)…it was a wild night.

We were hurting on Halloween but we made an effort to go on a hike. We headed to Point Dume in Malibu because a) it’s the most beautiful place on Earth and b) it’s an easy hike for hungover people carrying a chihuahua around.

Getting amped up to go out on Halloween night was a real struggle because we were all still poisoned from the night before. But once I got my costume on I was like YASSSSSSSS and I definitely wanted to go out.

I was a marching band majorette! I managed to bring my hat AND my baton home with me after the party, so that was a major win.

Carolyn was the Milky Way. WOULD YA LOOK AT THAT MAKE-UP? I can’t believe she did it with one of those crappy Halloween make-up kits because it looked soooooo sick. The mini lights under the navy top were a nice touch as well.

Alice and Dane were Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, but people kept thinking Dane was Bono.

So we went to this sick party in the Valley and it was just like when Cher goes to a party in the Valley in Clueless. We even passed the Circus Liquor where she gets robbed (“But this is an Alaia!”). The Uber fare out there was a serious investment, but the party was really cool so it paid off.

A reference to Werewolf Bar Mitzvah?

Two weekends ago my lovely friend Brittany came to visit also. She’s handling the West Coast territory at her new job, so I’m hoping she’ll be able to visit again or we can meet up in San Francisco or Vegas or something. There’s so many places I haven’t been yet!

BONUS: This ridiculous self-timer picture Dane took by balancing his phone on a rock.

What have you guys been up to lately? I miss you! I feel like we haven’t talked in a while…
