Got two more product reviews comin’ atcha! I definitely have a backlog of products to review since I’ve been so busy moving to LA…and freaking out about moving to LA. Anyhow, I’m really impressed with these products since they’ve kept my skin healthy and hydrated-looking despite the fact that I’ve been eating garbage and going crazy with the drinking. Ya know, I need to make every moment count in these last days in Ohio! Now, to the products!
It should be noted that I’ve been using these products together. I usually wash my face, use a face wipe to remove any excess make-up, apply the Solvaderm Serum, then the Trilane Retinol.
So, Solvaderm is a skincare company that has a very scientific, pharmaceutical approach to product development. According to Solvaderm, this product “promotes dermal restoration and provides a powerful defense against skin aging due to sun exposure and environmental stressors.” Definitely a plus since I’m moving to LA, the land of sun and smog! I do have to say that this stuff does not smell very good. Actually, the smell reminds me of a treatment I had to put on a wart I had in fourth grade after my hermit crab pinched me! However, it is amazing. I really think that it does help with sun exposure because usually by this point of the year, I would be a freckly mess. In fact, my arms have totally freckled up but my skin is still relatively even-toned. It definitely gives me a nice glow! I dig it.
So, usually when you start using a retinol moisturizer, your skin gets all dry and flaky as it adjusts to a new schedule of cell turnover. I had this issue when I tried Radha Beauty Retinol Moisturizer. Even though I eventually ended up really liking the product, for the first week I was using it I was basically one giant skin flake. I took a little break from using a retinol before starting this product. I was totally expecting to become a dry, flaky mess when I started using this but I didn’t have that issue at all. Turns out, the product is specially formulated to prevent that retinol adjustment period. Cheers to that! I feel like this product is great for moisturizing and improving skin texture. However, it does leave a pretty distinct oily sheen on my face, so I can only use it at night. It’s advertised as being good for day or night, but when I tried to use it for daytime, my BB cream slid right off! Overall though, it’s a really great night time moisturizer. If you’d like to try it, I have a 20% discount for you guys! Just use the code SAVERETC during check out from Amazon!
