GREAT AMERICAN ROAD TRIP: OHIO TO OKLAHOMA

GREAT AMERICAN ROAD TRIP: OHIO TO OKLAHOMA

posted in: BLOG, LIFESTYLE, TRAVEL | 20
You guys: I’ve finally made it to LA!!! It took me about a week to drive out here with my mom as co-pilot. We stopped in several cities along the way, but for the most part there was just a lot of fields, forest, and desert. THIS COUNTRY IS HUGE!!! I almost lost it in Arizona just staring out into the endless land. Anyhow, I’ve got a series of posts coming up for you about my road trip.

On the first day of our roadtrip we drove from Youngstown, Ohio to St. Louis. It rained, like, the whole time. I’ve already driven across Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois before so it wasn’t super exciting. However, when we got to the hotel we had a fantastic view of the Arch from our room on the 25th floor!

We took a walk down to the Laclede’s Landing for dinner. It’s a historical neighborhood next to the Mississippi with lots of bars and restaurants.

I’m like literally terrified of heights and the hotel had elevators on the outside of the building. I mean, I’m already moving to a strange city on the other side of the country so why can’t I be in a glass elevator on the 25th floor, right? I had to make this face the whole time but I got through it.

On day 2, we stopped in Springfield, Missouri for lunch at The Lebanese Place. It was majorly delicious and we stuffed ourselves.

Outside of Tulsa, we stopped at the Blue Whale, a classic route 66 attraction. It was built in the 70’s as a swimming hole and it’s like 60 feet long. The guy who built it literally hand-mixed cement in a bucket to build the whale. Can you imagine?

You can’t go swimming there anymore, and believe me, you wouldn’t want to. We saw a huge snake slithering through the water ewwwwww.

However, you can still walk around in it. It’s pretty cool and there’s actually a ladder that goes upstairs. As I told you though, I am afraid of heights so there was no way I was going up there. Plus, what if there were snakes?

There were slides out into the water.

Then it started raining again and we went to bed early. Driving is exhausting!

Stay tuned for my next post on my road trip about Texas and New Mexico!

Have you guys ever been to any of these places? Do any of you live around here? Let me know in the comments!
