Yo dudes! Sorry I’ve been M.I.A. lately. I have been doing a massive clean-out of my closet. I am moving soon and I am getting rid of 90% of my wardrobe and starting fresh! But the sorting is taking FOREVER. A lot of this stuff should end up eBay, so stay tuned for that.
Also I just want to give a huge thank you to everyone who’s entered my giveaway so far! There’s still a few days left, so make sure to enter! And for those of you who asked, international readers are welcome!
Anyways, a few weeks ago I shot these photos of my apartment. This was my first “big girl” apartment that I rented all on my own. It pretty much always smells like coffee and it’s almost never clean, but it’s my place to kick back and hang out alone, so I love it. Most of my furniture is vintage or repurposed hand-me-downs. I’ve done my best to make it cozy with a budget of approximately $0 so I hope you like it!
I love my vintage brass bed. I picked it up for $35 in Schiller Park during the German Village garage sale and wheeled it home! The streets are cobblestone so it was, um, kind of a nightmare to say the least. But now that I have it in my home it was totally worth it!
My stuffed llama, “Dolly”, whom I bought in San Diego in seventh grade. Yeah, I sleep with a stuffed animal. Deal with it.
I keep my necklaces on this bulletin board so they don’t get all tangled.
I have a really cool vintage console record player that unfortunately does not work! I had high hopes of fixing it myself. Then I remembered I am not an electrician, so it’s mostly just a catchall next to the front door. This is usually where I toss my keys and sunnies when I walk in the house. Most of my books are in my garage, but I have a few choice tomes out (and library books). I also have my painting of Marilyn Monroe that I made in seventh grade art class and my Lady & the Tramp figurines.
Muddy boots by the door.
I have this massive leather couch that my parents bought in Michigan in 1995 and it’s pretty much been with me ever since. It’s definitely “distressed” after 20 years of wear-and-tear but it’s still comfy and awesome-looking. My mom refinished the chest of drawers, which I wrote about here.
This chair was in my grandpa’s bedroom as long as I can remember. The cushion was damaged so my mom covered it in black velvet and spray-painted the metal frame gold. I love it!
On my mantel I have a picture of my parents and me at my high school graduation party.
I like to keep invitations/birth announcements/Christmas cards and whatnot on my fridge.
The kitchen is galley-style. It’s not very big, but I don’t care because I have a DISHWASHER! I didn’t have one for like 3 years and it was awful. My apartment also has a balcony area that barely fits 2 Adirondack chairs, but it’s nice to have an outdoor space.
My bathroom is TINY. So tiny, in fact, that I couldn’t even get a good shot of it! Oh well. I would feel weird about posting a picture of my bathroom on the internet anyhow.
Well I hope you enjoyed my house tour! Let me know if you have anything similar on your blogs! I love to see where people live.
And PS if you want to see what my apartment looked like before I moved in, I have a post about it here.
