Yo homies did you start your squat challenge yet? I just dragged my butt out of my sick bed to do them, so you have no excuses! I feel like since I posted it on the internet, I’m pretty committed to doing this now. Even if I may or may not have mono…

So anyhow, I don’t have as many music picks this month because to be honest, I’ve been listening to NPR TED Talks while I’m at work. It’s nice to learn something every once and a while, you know? I did hear a few new and exciting things so here goes.

Best Coast – California Nights

Yas queen yas! You guys know I adore Bethany Cosentino and her band, Best Coast. This song has nice psychedelic vibe but it also still reminds me of Sheryl Crow. I love it.

Pixies – Wave of Mutilation

If you don’t know them, Pixies are a very cool alt-rock band from the late-80’s/early-90’s who had a huge influence on bands like Nirvana and Weezer. I’m sure you’ve heard their songs (like “Where is My Mind?”). I must have missed this song when I was downloaded their discography on Limewire in 7th grade. It’s great!

Temples – The Guesser

I listened to Temples a lot last year, but I finally got their CD to listen to in my car and I’ve been listening to it on repeat. It’s pretty much perfect spring music. They really nail that neo-60’s sound.

Tired Lion – I Don’t Think You Like Me

Another amazing Australian rock band! I think I might need to visit Perth because they seem to have the most happening music scene in, like, the world.

Marina and the Diamonds – Froot

I haven’t listened to a lot of Marina and the Diamonds, but I know she just had a new album come out and this is the title track. It has such a fun, disco beat.

Django Django – Reflections

Another new song from Django Django! I’m so excited for this album to come out in May. I hope I get the opportunity to see them live again because they’re probably one of the best live bands I’ve seen.

The Jacksons – Show You the Way to Go

I also listen to oldies radio a lot. You would think I would have heard all the “oldies” music ever made by this point, but there’s this station here that plays a lot of cool stuff that’s not that popular. I’ve never heard this Jacksons song but it’s great! Such a cool chorus.

Mark Ronson ft. Kevin Parker – Leaving Los Feliz

Yes, I know we have already talked about Mark Ronson before. But this album is so sick! When I do my Uber driving, I just listen to it over and over again. This song taught me that I have been mispronouncing “Los Feliz.” Apparently in LA you should pronounce all the Spanish place names phonetically in English. Noted.

What have you guys been listening to lately?
