Day Two in LA was even better than the first! I’m telling ya, things just keep getting better and better out here. Above is the view of Venice from the Venice Beach Pier.
In the morning I took a walk along the canals in Venice. Apparently the founder of Venice, Abbot Kinney, was so impressed by the original Venice in Italy, that he decided to come out to California and build a Venice for himself. The result is a network of really adorable canals a few blocks from the beach. I saw a dude just standing out here, observing the canal with his morning coffee. That’s the life!
Oh and apparently you can just reach up and grab and orange for breakfast out of your orange tree or whatever.
Jim Morrison mural!
Muscle Beach Dumpster (that would be a great band name!).
I saw this girl just sitting in the window, eating a bowl of cereal. People really have it figured out here. Can you imagine?
The Boardwalk is lined with these seedy little tourist shops and marijuana dispensaries. On this day I happened to catch the shops before they were open (thanks jet lag!).
We rented bikes and rode up the boardwalk to the Santa Monica Pier. My sister and I kept singing the Rocket Power theme song.
Remember this shit? Anyhow…
Took this picture with some of my blonder cousins. This is about 5 seconds before Killian got shit on by a seagull.
I really want to follow the old Route 66 out here!
Fish Tacos at The Albright.

After the bike ride, I walked over to Abbot Kinney. There’s all these cute shops and I am telling you, I have never seen so many luxury sweatpants in my life. Everyone was SO NICE though. I stopped into this amazing store called Aviator Nation, and they had this gorgeous outside room off the back. It was so cool! Apparently they have live music here. Count me in, please.
I thought this was so cute. Little did I know I would find out the next day…
We went out to a bar called Venice Whaler where I think the original intention was to get dinner, but things just got out of control. Did I mention that I come from a huge family? Yeah, we took up the entire bar. They had a few guys playing guitar and we got them to play Eagles and Tom Petty. It was so Welsch-y.
Me and my cousin, the groom.
Me and my new cousin!
After we were properly sloshed we went back to one of the beach houses we rented, where there were these weird light up orbs. We had like wayyyy too much fun with those. I have like 20 videos on my iPhone of these.
So anyhow…what have you been to lately?
