I once read that every month, Cameron Crowe makes a mixtape of all his favorite songs. Whenever he wants to remember what a specific time in his life was like, he just digs up that mixtape and plays it. I’ve been doing this for years and it really works! It also forces you to keep finding new music, which in my opinion, is a way of trying to improve yourself.
In October, Panda Bear (AKA the best member of Animal Collective) came out with a sick new EP as a teaser to his upcoming full-length album Panda Bear vs. the Grim Reaper. If this song is any indication, this new stuff is going to be more poppy than his last album. I’m very excited!
Alvvays – “Archie, Marry Me”
I’ll always have a soft spot for female-fronted rock bands. I love the 90’s vibe of this song. It makes me want to put on some floral leggings and Doc Martens.
Outfit – “Dashing in Passing”
Just wait until you get to the chorus of this song. I can’t help but dance at my desk at work whenever I hear this song.
Paul Simon – “Can’t Run But”
I totally missed my 5 year blog anniversary, can you believe that? I started writing this blog on November 1, 2009 and my very first post was about Paul Simon’s Graceland. Make sure you listen to this with headphones, the vibes at the beginning are subtle but amazing.
Timber Timbre – “Hot Dreams”
This song reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd’s “Us and Them.” I just love that tenor saxophone solo at the end – amazing.
Blues Traveler – “Hook”
