I’ve got to be honest. I think I’m in a really good place right now. I have some amazing friends, I like my job, I drink tons of water, and I’m finding blogging to be really creatively fulfilling. That said, I do have a few things that I would like to improve on in 2015.
HEALTH: I was sick for like 3 weeks in November and it was TURRIBLE. And now that I’m thinking about it, I was also sick last winter. I really believe that you are what you eat, and I could definitely eat more healthfully. Right now I feel like I’m kind of a scavenger – I just eat whatever is lying around my house or at work and I’m always up for a free meal. I need to like actually go to the grocery store and make myself some food for once in my life. At home, I usually make salads, green smoothies, or roasted vegetables and chicken so I just need to have more of that and less leftover pizza from some other team’s meeting.
Secondly, I need to stop binge drinking. I think I’ve been binge drinking (4+ drinks) at least one night every week for the past 6 years and I’m just so tired of it. I hate feeling sick and fatigued. I hate waking up in the morning and feeling guilty about whatever stupid things I said or did while I was wasted. Binge drinking completely zaps my creative energy and ruins my weekends. I think every once and a while it’s fine, but I don’t need to go balls to the wall every single weekend. Ya know?
Also I need to go to make myself go to the dentist. Ugh.
BEAUTY: I am going to continue to grow out my over-processed hair. This time next year I should have enough healthy hair to have a long bob!
FINANCE: I went car shopping the other day and now I really, really want a new car. My car is kind of old and shitty but I still owe $7,000 on it. I am going to pay more than my minimum and try to knock that down so maybe I can get a new car next December. MAYBE.
CREATIVE: I am going to continue to grow this blog! I am seriously loving this. I want to improve my content, my photography skills, and my relationships with other bloggers and brands. I am looking to find a way to monetize for a second source of income, but I don’t want to sacrifice quality. Ja feel? Hopefully I can figure this out in 2015.
Also, did you even know that I’m a musician? I haven’t been playing much but I want to change that this year. I find playing guitar, writing songs, and singing to be very therapeutic. It’s just so hard to find the time now that blogging is practically becoming a part time job on top of my regular career.
HOME: I want to focus on decorating my apartment and making it feel more home-y and cozy. I just feel like I’ve been squatting in various places for the past 7 years. Almost all my furniture is hand-me-down or thrifted. I want to get some new stuff in here to freshen things up and make me feel like I’m in my own space when I come home from work every day! And if my apartment looks nice, I’ll have the added benefit of having a good background for photography.
READING: I am also going to read 26 books next year. I am on my 26th for this year right now! That seems like a good number for me. It’s a bit of a challenge to finish a book every two weeks (especially when you start reading things like Undaunted Courage), but it’s also not impossible. I read more non-fiction books this year than I think I’ve ever read in my whole life, and I’d like to continue that trend in 2015.
