Since when does every drugstore hair brand have a dry shampoo? I’d been using Suave for years because it was the only thing out there, then all of a sudden BAM! There’s like 10 different kinds of dry shampoo at Kroger. I guess everyone is getting in on the greasy hair game these days. As I previously mentioned, I’ve been wanting to change up my dry shampoo, so I picked up 6 different bottles to do a little test for you. I’ve been trying them for the past 2 weeks to let YOU know which one is the best so you don’t have to figure it out for yourself!
Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo – This one smells a bit like baby powder but overall the scent is pretty okay. The product is very white when it comes out of the bottle. I left the product in for a few minutes before brushing out and my hair still looked a little bit too shiny. Later in the day my hair dry, tangly, and prone to flyaways though so I have to give this one a 6/10.
Pantene Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo – I am just not a fan of Pantene in general and this product did nothing to help my negative perception of the brand. This dry shampoo goes on clear, but when I brushed it out it solidified into gross white flakes. This one is no better than Suave, it’s just more expensive. I had to put my hair in a ponytail after this one because it looked so bad. 3/10.
Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo – Like the Pantene, this one sprays on clear. It made my hair a bit wet at first, but as the alcohol evaporated it took on a grandma-y floral scent. Because this product is clear, it was super easy to brush out. My hair looked really nice after using this but I felt kind of felt greasy through the day. 8/10.
Tresemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo – Ugh this smells like lemon drop shots. It wets down your hair and it leaves a residue. It’s like, your hair isn’t greasy but it’s just covered in this nastiness. I feel like if your drugstore or grocery store only has one shampoo, it’s usually this one. I guess I would use it in a greasy hair emergency. 2/10.
Suave Morroccan Infusion Dry Shampoo – This used to be the only cheap dry shampoo out there for a long time, and I have used it for years. It does make your hair less greasy, but I think it actually dries it out so much that it causes breakage. Definitely not seeing any “moroccan infusion” here. Smells pretty good though. 4/10.
Batiste Dry Shampoo Original – This is my favorite out of the bunch. It smells nice, and when I use it my hair actually looks clean. I feel like with most dry shampoos, they just cause the absence of greasiness, but that’s not really the same thing as actually feeling & looking clean. It’s worth the extra couple of dollars, and I don’t even need to use it every single day. Since I’ve started using this, I’m down to one shampoo or less a week. 9/10.
So there you have it. Buy Bastiste or Herbal Essence dry shampoos and don’t even look at Tresemmé or Pantene! Now go forth and conquer!

  2. I love good honest reviews! I just purchased my first herbal essence dry shampoo in citrus and can't wait to try it! Would love to be able to wash my hair once a week instead of twice as it really saves the time and I hate having wet hair during the winter

  3. Great reviews! I'm looking for a new dry shampoo.

  4. This was so helpful, thank you! I'm always looking for drugstore comparisons. Where did you find the Batiste brand? I don't think I've seen any at my Kroger.

    Another Beautiful Thing

    • At my Kroger they have Batiste brand dry shampoos with the higher end hair products like Chi and Frederic Fekkai. You could probably get an even better price on Amazon!

  8. I love the Batiste – and honestly, it's the only one I've ever tried as it was love at first sight. I have a travel sized which saves me during those long flights between Tel Aviv and Miami. xx

  9. I have never tried dry shampoos and they are not available in India!
would you like to follow each other on GFC , facebook etc?
Do let me know and i'll follow you back

  10. I've never used dry shampoo ever haha. I don't think it works with my hair type plus I sometimes wear extensions and dry shampoo doesn't really go well with it. Like Nicole mentioned above I've heard awesome things about batiste. A friend of mine actually purchased it and it worked wonders for her. If I were to buy dry shampoo I would go with Pantene or Herbal Essence. Those are two brands who have awesome shampoo!

    With Love, Banke
