THE END OF SUMMER

posted in: BLOG, LIFESTYLE | 1
I can’t believe summer is over. Ugh, what a tragedy. It’s such a cruel world in which we live, where winter seems to drags on for 5000 years and summer ends in the blink of an eye. Or maybe that’s just living in Ohio.
I would say that I’ve been through a lot this summer, but I feel that way after every season these days. I’m 25 and I’m figuring out a lot of stuff. Things are ca-razy and I don’t really know what I’m doing, but I’ve heard that’s okay.
So anyhow, here’s a recap of my summer:

I went to Amelia Island, Florida with my family in May. It was my second time there, and every time I go there I eat at new places and see new things. Like this time I tried a delicious Spanish restaurant and I saw an ALLIGATOR. A real one, like out in the wild and not at the zoo. Plus I got really drunk by the pool every day and my mom and I developed a synchronized swimming routine.

(L) I saw The Book of Mormon with my fam and laughed my ass off. (R) My boo (wearing a vintage Planet Hollywood t-shirt, mind you) and I had these Bloody Mary’s at DK Diner and they had tater tots wrapped in bacon as a garnish. I’m pretty sure that I could just only have Bloody Mary’s as my entire diet.

(L) Columbus Clippers game with my boyfriend. (R) This pizza from Planks is so, so amazing. My mouth is watering right now just looking at this picture. The crust is like kind of sweet and the pepperoni  is all crunchy and spicy. Oh my god. I want pizza now. Anyhow…

Two new friends I’ve been bonding with this summer, Kirsten (human) and Lulu (dog).

In June I was in my cousin’s wedding and we had a blast despite the fact that there was no power in the city and we had to eat dinner by candlelight. The important thing is that we had the PA system hooked up to a generator so we could listen to Spice Girls all night.
This is just a really incredible garden by my friend’s house. This person takes the tiniest little yard and makes the most amazing nature-art.

My boyfriend and I on the 4th of July. Nice sunglasses, right?

Every year my company has a carnival for all of its employees. Everything is free – food, beer, rides, games – it’s amazing. Here we were observing a baby pig race.

My number one hangover cure: roast duck wanton noodles from Yau’s. I needed this a lot this summer. Now that I’m 25 I just don’t bounce back like I used to.
My married friends just bought a house near the only Columbus branch of one of our favorite hometown restaurants, Belleria.

I just love this little dog! Look at her stupid little face oh my god.

My buddy Alicia (owner of the dog). We’ve been spending a lot of time together this summer and I feel so lucky to have such a great friend so nearby. It’s like the olden days when you were a kid and would just walk to your friends house to see if they could play. Except for us, playing usually involves eating tortilla chips or taking the dog on a walk and complaining about life.

Since my boyfriend moved away for work, I’ve had a lot of extra time on my hands and I’ve started working out. You know, I gotta keep my mind and body occupied at all times to keep myself from falling into a bottomless pit of despair. That kind of thing. I’m going to Crossfit and running a few times a week. I can’t believe this but I’m ACTUALLY enjoying it.
(L) Almond pesto pizza with sausage from Harvest. I’m absolutely obsessed with this place, I can’t stop going. (R) Salmon, bacon, lettuce, tomato, egg open-faced sandwich from The Market.

And now, here I am, learning how to be a Southern lady and a #GIRLBOSS, looking forward to whatever comes next in life.
It’s funny, sometimes it just takes a brief flip through your camera roll to realize how good things are even if your life is weird and in flux. Let’s see what fall brings!
