Blood Orange Old Fashioneds

Sometimes, it’s so much better to stay in with a friend and sip homemade cocktails while watching trashy TV than to go out. This Friday night was one of those times for me. My friend and I hung out on her couch with her dog, ordered a pizza, and made these bad boys, inspired by the Old Fashioneds they make at El Camino.

Blood Orange Old Fashioned

Makes 2 servings
1 can Blood Orange San Pellegrino
4 oz Honey Bourbon (we used Evan Wiliams)
Angostura Bitters
Maraschino cherries
Directions:
Fill two glasses with ice. We used mason jars, but there is a glass called an “old fashioned” if you want to get all authentic. Pour 2 oz of bourbon into each glass. Next, add a few dashes of Angostura bitters. I didn’t know what “bitters” were. Apparently it’s an alcohol made with a bunch of different flavorful spices, but it really smells like cinnamon to me. One bottle is about $8, but it seems like it would last forever! Split the can of San Pellegrino between the two glasses. Give each drink a stir, and finally add 2 maraschino cherries (or more!) and a festive straw.
