Fly Winter Kicks

November 26, 2009 •

So…although I’d love to look like a snow princess all day, all winter, I unfortunately live and go to school in Ohio. Therefore, I spend a lot of time walking, outdoors, in the cold, in the snow. I need shoes that can deal with this. And because I REFUSE to wear Uggs (everyone else’s go-to winter shoe), I’m always on the hunt for alternatives.

Luckily, when I met the (possible) love of my life last year, I also discovered an amazing snow shoe alternative: Nike Dunks.

They are warm and waterproof, which is awesome. Unfortunately, they sort of force me to change my style because they will obviously look bizarre with tights and dresses. When I wear these (I have one pair, not the ones above, but aren’t those tight?), I try to channel the Simmons girls, Vanessa and Angela.

They are so freaking adorable…I’m just really disappointed that I couldn’t really find any pictures to demonstrate this style that I’m sort of imitating. Anyhow, they wear a lot of V-neck T-shirts, hoodies, high top shoes, leggings, skinny jeans, bright colors, etc., all while still looking cute and feminine. I admire this, because whenever I dress like that, I look like I’m going to go hang out with my fellow 13 year olds at the skate park. But whatever. I hope to post a picture of an example of this look soon so you’ll know what I mean.

Hmmm…I just sort of realized that my boyfriend is a bit of style icon for me, and I kind of copy his look in the winter. He usually wears the same sort of thing every day, but it’s very effortlessly cool. He wears a T-shirt and a zip up hoodie with straight leg Levis tucked into his high tops. I love this look on anyone, but especially on him. I like to pretend that he invented it, although I’m pretty sure that everyone at his high school dressed like that.

Okay, so, I’m rambling….I think I’ll just go to bed and maybe edit this ridiculous post later. K thanks bye.
